Miroslav Pansky was artistic director and conductor of the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra for 23 years. As creator and director of the Pamiro Opera Company, he brought "live" opera to area audiences through some 30 full-scale productions of professional quality. But along with these achievements, Maestro Pansky took special delight in working with the youth orchestras he organized and directed for many years as part of the Symphony program. He savored the joy of watching young talent develop, of inspiring those with special gifts to take on ever greater challenges as performers. In that spirit, the Civic Symphony offers the Miroslav Pansky Memorial Concerto Competition.
